Another memory to hold onto

CELEBRATING ISNHS' 122ND FOUNDATION DAY

It’s 6:20 AM, the weary breeze along the school’s field and patiently waiting for our juniors to march till it’s the 10th graders turn to venture outside the school’s campus.  Minutes stretching endlessly, waiting until a quarter before 7’ and yet no sign of being our turn. Impatience among my classmates grew and they couldn’t seem to hold it in. Just then, it finally struck 7:00 and we took the first steps in our 2-hour journey along the pavements of Vigan City.

The movement of 10-Marconi began with perfect synchronization, their disciplined strides setting the pace, and equally spaced distances. Setting our eyes on securing the Most Discipline Grade-Ten Section award. Enduring the kilometers long path, and the unforgiving cobblestone path beneath our feet, as well as the silent atmosphere, brewed from the commitment of obtaining the award. Finally reaching home base, back to the field. The emcees of the school’s foundation day called our section’s name, presenting ourselves with pride and discipline. Then finally marching back to our classroom, still laughably about keeping our rigid lanes.

However, prior to May 22nd, the Science Club and YES-O collaborated to work on the YES-O and Science Club Bazaar, selling handmade Vigan City trinkets as well as pre-owned items.

Then after the parade, the class of Grade 10 Marconi prepared their required props and headgear for the upcoming field demonstration. Everyone was laughing and cheering along, having fun with friends in the comfort of our four-walled confined classroom. Making fun of each other for our goofy looks, the boys after wearing their bandanas and the girls after wearing their blonde bangs. But the atmosphere soon changed. After this, our class went to the field and watched other grade levels and their performances. Specifically, we boys, as we were the first to go.

VIVA MEXICO!! The central theme the 10th grade boys had to dance through. Energetic choreography and cardiovascular endurance are so tedious to execute every step. However, we were filled with enthusiasm, dancing to the likes of La Bamba and Levantando Las Manos. After finishing up the dance sequences for the field demo, we headed back to our classroom to have a well-deserved break.

Then after some time, I alone went back to the field anticipating the announcement of the Field demo winners. Some classmates of mine joined me in the thrill, the atmosphere tensed. As grade 7 to 11 had high hopes for each of their performances. In the end, we achieved 2nd place some were frustrated, some complained, but I was kind of indifferent (I don’t need to elaborate further)After all of it, the class of 10-Marconi, went on to enjoy our lunch together, beef patty with gravy, mushroom and rice from McDonalds.
